Vocology /Vocɑlədji/ n. the science and practice of voice habilitation.

Habilitate /həbɪlətāt/ v. to make fit or capable.

A vocologist is someone who is certified to have the requisite knowledge to engage in that practice.

Co-originator of the field, Ingo Titze states the five objectives of vocology as follows:

1. Find the “ideal voice” for the given anatomy of the individual.

2. Teach clients how to feel good when they are making vocal sounds.

3. Allow vocalists to achieve maximum control over their voice production.

4. Maximize the longevity of vocal production.

5. Provide reliable, cost effective tools of assessment of vocal disorders.

While much of my training and experience is in classical music, voice function knows no genre and repertoire can be adjusted to whatever you sing. My mission is to build healthy and individual voices; what you do with it is up to you!

A standard 60-minute lesson will consist of:

• A quick chat about your voice since we’d last met.

• A set of personalized, evidence-based warm-ups.

• Repertoire selection based on what will benefit you most where you are.

• Another quick chat about the session’s victories and main takeaways to keep in mind before your next lesson.

Not at all! Much of my teaching is online and we can get you singing no matter where you are. All you need is a camera and a microphone!

I’m told logos are supposed to answer questions rather than raising them. I, however, am a voice teacher, not a graphic designer.

The straw is a symbol used to represent semi-occluded vocal tract (SOVT) exercises, as it’s a common tool used by voice teachers and SLPs.

Unsatisfying an answer as it is, the studio name is a pun. I hope you’ll forgive me and work with me anyway. :)
